I've worn out two pairs of skates recently (thanks to lulu who gave me motivation) so I give myself some nice early Christmas pressie.... This 10 year old pair was actually Chantel's but she doesn't use it much and it fits me better than my own pair so I've been using it. Eventually it cracked at two places (fastener bracket and shell hinge).  I then returned to my original pair (also 10 year old) and now the wheels have been completely worn out. I could change the wheels but oh well I want some beefier blades!  I went to the shop and tried out a few. Then searched on net and finally decided on buying online. It even comes with a free carry bag!  The first pair I ordered is Rollerblade Fusion X7 Urban Skates  It comes with hard boot shell and 90mm wheels spaced only at 1mm apart  Some people swap out the lining but I don't see the need. This is as comfy as my Scarpa T2 ski boots  The second pair is a K2. Same brand as my original.  It's - wait for it - K2 Radical 100 Speed Skates! Under the right legs (not mine) I've heard it can do in excess of 60km/hour  The Radical 100 sure looks pretty radical! It comes with a set of 100mm wheels. There's also a 110mm version (two rear wheels at 110mm). But I think 60km/h on a pair of skates is fast enough for amateur ol me...  Lulu will have a harder time chasing me now  Come join me at Centennial / Olympic Park if you are keen! Call me if you want my old pairs (US Size 9). You can take the wheels out of the broken pair and put them into the worn out pair and you're good to go for a few months if not longer.  |
