大家可以给议员写信，抗议。 如果政府真要帮助disadvantaged students，他们至少要在申请开始之前宣布，现在宣布，志愿都不能改了，这届的学生不是吃了大亏？其次，他们也可以增加selective school和OC班的人数，这样既可以为disadvantaged students保留位子，也可以保证参加考试的学生的利益不受影响。 这里有抗议信模板： Dear xxxx: As you may have heard, NSW government is gonna overhaul the selective school and OC class admission process and reserve 20% of the places for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. And this policy will start from 2023 enrolments. I totally support the government’s efforts to help disadvantaged students. However, now the applications for 2023 selective school and OC class enrolments have been closed and candidates have made their choices. These choices were made on an assumption that all the places will be based on test result with some considerations of school performance. They can not be changed. Now the government slashes 20% (or even 25%) of the places. The school choices will no longer be a precise estimate of test outcome. Therefore, the policy is very unfair to the students in this year. If the government wants to reserve places for disadvantaged students, they should announce their decision one year ahead of time, or at least before the application starts. This sudden change is definitely hasty and is very shocking to students and parents. Also, they could admit more students in the selective school and OC classes so that the impact on test participants is minimized after reserving places for disadvantaged students. As such, I am writing this email and hope you could pass our concerns to the government, and hopefully they could postpone the enforcement of this policy. Your help will be very much appreciated.
