The bureau chief for the Herald and The Age in Canberra, Angus Livingston, reports that NSW and Victoria are pushing for lockdowns of all non-essential activities, including schools. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said at his press conference earlier on Sunday that the national cabinet would meet tonight and it is expected to consider this proposal. However, he said a shutdown of schools would "seriously impact and disrupt the health workforce that is needed to save lives". Victoria is expected to go it alone if the federal government does not take action, and the lockouts are most likely to kick in from Tuesday. The national cabinet meeting has been brought forward from Tuesday to tonight at the urging of NSW and Victoria.
