To my friends and colleagues: Wishing you and yours the very best holidays and bidding you all farewell. It’s been an amazing journey for me the past 19 years – from working in a small xxx, xx software company as a teenager with blue hair, to the first xxx acquisition I would go through and on to the opportunity to build and run the xxx infrastructure that would one day processes millions of xxx transactions for this region. The region has come a long way in the four years I have been here and Australia has become the home-in-your-heart that I didn’t know I was looking for. While work has been my solid core of purpose and given me meaning over the years, it has also been my only core purpose and meaning most of those years. I’ve reached the point in my life where I need to take a break from it to see the world unfettered by the needs/wants of a demanding career. I want to find who I can be outside of ‘my job’ to define me. I will be backpacking Europe through 2017 until I’m done; seeking renewed purpose and finding just who and what I want to be ‘when I grow up’. It is my plan one day return to Sydney, but such things will be decided by the road and where it leads me. I’ll send along the travel blog links when the site is ready!
