Proposal for 40km/h speed limit We're seeking feedback on a proposal to introduce a 40 km/h speed limit in the Oakleigh Activity Centre. A lower speed limit would make the area safer for the many pedestrians visiting local shops and community facilities. Council is proposing that the speed limit be lowered from 50 km/h to 40 km/h in the below zone, which includes Hanover St, Portman St, Chester St, Drummond St and part of Atherton Rd. Oakleigh Activity Centre - proposed lower speed area More information on this proposal is available in the report that Council considered at its 31 March meeting: Oakleigh Activity Centre 40 km/h Area Speed Limit. A 40 km/h speed limit already applies in and around the Glen Waverley Activity Centre and around the Clayton Road shopping strip.
