Your maternal chid nurse is correct in saying that this is quite a common/normal problem.
Babies can often go 3 or 4 days without doing a poo!
It is also normal for them to start squirming and becoming uncomfortable at this age for lots of reason - for wind problems, for poo problems or just because they are more awake and learning to use how their bowels work.
I know a lot of mothers do try something to help their babies through this uncomfortable period
Using a little bit of extra water is ok, as long as you are not using too much. 15 - 20 mls extra a day should be more than enough. Remember that they don’t really need extra water as they have plenty in the milk, but you can certainly try it if you like.
