ESV is urgently alerting all gasfitters and consumers to a recall of Braemar WF2000-30N gas wall furnaces due to the risk of death or injury from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Two hundred of these wall furnaces have been incorrectly fitted with an oversized injector, potentially resulting in carbon monoxide being drawn back into the room being heated.
The product was on sale at specialist dealers, trade suppliers and retailers across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and the ACT between 7 February 2014 and 5 August 2014.
The affected wall furnaces are branded Braemar and are manufactured by Seeley International and carry the serial number ranges W14020107-W14020590 and W14030001-W14030697.
Check whether the serial number of your wall furnace falls within the serial number range provided. If so, immediately stop using the product and contact Seeley International Pty Ltd on 1300 150 288.
In addition, gasfitters are reminded to check gas space heating appliances including gas log fires for spillage of carbon monoxide. ESV is currently investigating other manufacturers of gas appliances for compliance with standards and suspected CO issues.
Gasfitters are urged to contact ESV via investigations@esv.vic.gov.au if you suspect a particular brand or model. For further information about this recall click here or visit: www.recalls.gov.au
