Mac.Rob holds its place at top of the table
For the tenth time in 11 years, Mac.Robertson Girls' High School has topped the state in VCE marks, with a median subject study score of 38.
Their high median study score was matched only by Fintona Girls' School in Balwyn, which finished in second place by dint of a slightly lower percentage of high achievers who had study scores of at least 40.
The barest of margins separated the top performers in the state in 2013. Seven schools in the top 10 – Mount Scopus Memorial College, Bialik College, Lauriston Girls School, Melbourne High School, Sacre Coeur, St Catherine's School and Beth Rivkah Ladies College – were tied on a median study score of 37.
They were followed by 18 schools with a median study score of 36. Mount Scopus Memorial College reported it had 15 perfect study scores of 50.
Other schools achieved major improvements in their study scores this year, including the socio-economically disadvantaged Lalor Secondary College in Melbourne's north. Silvana Sena took over as principal four years ago after graduating there in 1982.
The complete 2013 School VCE data can be seen at the VCAA website.
