Anyone knows about "recall"

My friend transfered USD$20,000 from USA  to me. From her USD account to my USD account. But when I finally  got the money, I lost over USD $1000 . Because they exchange USA to AUS, and then of course my bank change AUS  to USA again. My friend argued with the USA bank, they said they will "recall" the money. And they will "try their best" to save our money. I don't believe them. But my friend want to try. I think recall is not same as undo,isn't it? Will we lost more money? Anyonw knows about it?
