Welcome to the Dubbo Prospecting, Fossicking and Camping Club.

Hi all, my name is Brian Walters and I've set up this club for all those people who have an interest in the search for gold, gemstones, fishing or just camping in the bush in the middle of nowhere. This FREE club has been designed to be family friendly and gives the chance for people who are new to gold or gemstone hunting or who are unsure of camping alone, the opportunity to go out and enjoy themselves in a safe group environment.
A group meeting/BBQ is held once a month and camp trips are being organised throughout the year in different areas around the state.
All camps are done as cheap as possible and we try to stay in Free or low cost camp areas plus we try to go to locations that don't require a 4x4 to get to. They are also pet friendly.
We have had a few main camps so far with great success in places including Hill End, Nundle, Tingha, Ophir and Lightning Ridge. We also have camps coming up that include Bingara, Tuena, Sofala and Inverell.
So, If your interested, Feel free to join us for camping, Gold Detecting, fishing, gold panning, making a few dampers or just swapping good stories by the camp fire. Join the group and share your adventures and photos on the page, ask questions or give advice on places to go and things to do.
Everyone is welcome
Brian Walters

Mudgee BBQ  Day Meeting
August 31st 2013

Hi Campers, Our next BBQ lunch meeting will be held at Mudgee at Robertson Park on the 31st of August. While we are there we will visit Nuggetsfromdownunder where Kim will do a couple of demonstrations of gold detectors and other fossicking gear for us.
After that we will head down to the park for a BBQ lunch (BBQ provided) or you can bring along what you wish to eat.
This will be a good opportunity of any members wishing to get a detector or other fossicking equipment to get some first hand information.
We will meet at the Park at 12.00 and go from there.
Come on down and say Gday, have some lunch and meet a few members. I hope to see many of you there.
Brian
Wasn't born to please you.

Bingara Bush Camp
Friday September 27th 2013

Our next camp has been organized and we are going gold fossicking at Bingara NSW. We will be staying at a property called "Allawah" about 10kms out side of Bingara on the Fossickers Way.
This is a real bush camp with nothing more then a couple of bush toilets. We will be setting up camp along side the Gwydir river in a nice shady spot in the bush in a wonderful quiet location.
There will be many activities on offer during this camp like fishing, swimming, canoeing, fossicking for gold and other gemstones, plus there are options of 4 wheel driving and horse riding for those who are interested. We can use gold detectors around the property too.
The cost is $10.00 per night per campsite/vehicle. There are extra fees for other activities such as the horse riding and 4 wheel driving which can be organized with the property owners if you wish to do this. There is canoe hire available too :)
Remember, this is real bush camping, no power or showers etc. Its the real experience.
I have booked the site already so all you have to do is put your name on the list to say if your coming and how many in your group.
The camp area is assessable by normal car and caravan if required.
This one will be great fun so hope we can get a huge number together for this trip.
While we are in the area, we will go for a run to Ruby Hill and see if we can find a few nice Garnets :)

Tuena Camp Muster
Friday November 22nd

Ok Campers, We now have a camp booked for November. We will be having a 3 to 4  night stay  at a bush caravan park along side the creek at the small village of Tuena NSW.
We will be fossicking for both gold and gemstones such as Sapphires in a couple of different places around the area. There are many things to do such as fossicking, bush walking, swimming, fishing or just relaxing by the camp fire.
We will be doing a couple of communal dinners in the fire as we have done in past camps as well as a few dampers.
There are powered sites and  non powered sites available, Costs are $10 per night for powered and $5.00 for  non powered.  This cost is per unit, not per person :)
I will need to know numbers before the end of October and if you will need a powered site or not.
I hope to see many of you there. :)
I believe there are only around 10 powered sites available so be quick for those who want one.

Sofala Camp Out
Friday January 14th 2014

Hi Campers, Our January camp is going to be held at Sofala NSW starting on the 17th for 4 nights.  We will be staying at the First Crossing Camp grounds which is 6kms from Sofala. This is a FREE camp ground with basic amenities like a drop toilet, water tanks and rubbish bins etc. There are large flat spots for caravans and lots of room for tents etc.Its sealed road to the site as well.
We will be camped along side the Turon river so we will be panning for gold. Theres also fishing for trout and bass (fishing Licence required) and swimming for those who are keen. If you have a canoe or similar, bring it along too.
We will do a tour of Sofala and take in its history and possibly a drive along the Bridle Track from Hill End for those who are interested.
We will be doing our normal camp things like our communal dinners and cooking dampers in the fire, play some games and generally have a good time relaxing around the camp fire.
Please note that there is no fuel available at Sofala so make sure you top up before arriving and bring drinking water. There is a old pub and some stores for supplies if needed in Sofala.
All the camps have been a great success so far and this one will be no different. Hope to see many of you there.

Join a camp

Inverell Sapphire Hunt
Friday April 25th 2014

Hi Campers, This April school holidays we are going to Inverell to fossick for Sapphires and Zircons. We will be camping at the 7 Oaks Fossicking Park. For those who join us on the Tingha camp, this is where we visited on a day trip.
The camp is a bush camp with basic amenities but we will be looking at hiring some extra toilets etc for our visit. There is a shower on site but people should make their own arrangements. There is no power but we do have generators and lights for night time.
During our time there we will be doing a day run over to Tingha and chasing some Jellybeans, Grass stones and Crystals. We will do the normal sausage sizzle lunch as well while we are out.
We are looking at a cost of $10 per night for adults and $5 per night for kids for the camping, plus $10 per day for adults and $5 per kids per day for the fossicking on site. I will check on ages. No fee if not fossicking.
We have also booked the musician Peter Donavon to do another live show for us :) We will pass the hat around again to cover his costs.
You will only require a pair of fossicking sieves for this camp along with a shovel etc, some gear maybe available on site.
Normal cars can access this area but large vans may be a problem getting along the dirt road to the camp ground due to low hanging trees.
This will be a great camp to come along on so I hope to see many of you there.
Wasn't born to please you.
