A fughetta is a short fugue, with exposition plus only a few restatements of the subject.

Fugue is a composition for several voices or parts (generally three of four). Fugue is Latin for “flying after”, referring to the effect of the various voices following each other or “flying” after each other. It was most popular in the Baroque period and followed a very formal structure using much imitation between the parts or voices.

overheard at my son's piano lesson, it sort of means chasing, one hand start first and the other chase after.
Normally right hand plays, and the left hand accompanies.
