比如年薪7万的,only an example

我来更正:依据澳洲税法,每年都可申请LAPTOP AND MOBILE PHONE免税,all of the price can be rebated.

I can tell you what I knew. I bought a laptop in Apr. And I reported it to my boss with the invoice ( The title must be your company's name).
Then the amount of my salary was cut down, after a couple of days, the amount of the money  cut before was returned to my account. Anyway, I will totally pay less taxes in this financial year than before. In addition, I am not an IT guys. I don't know how much the company should pay for it. Who care?

In addition, the person's understanding capacities are different. and I also have not too much time spending on reading the tough Tax Law. So I do like to ask the professional guys, such as ASTINA and so on. I turst they will give us some good and correct advices.

Somebody agree with me, doesnt it?

Ten ways to slash your tax bill

From Money Magazine, May 2005

Peter Freeman writes in the May issue of Money that it's time to move past the stage of being angry about all the tax you pay and start doing something about it. To help you do just that Money has 10 top strategies to help cut your tax.

They're summed up like this:

Make sure you claim all the work-related deductions you are entitled to.

Be aware of all the tax offsets/rebates you may claim.

Understand how to get a deduction when you borrow to invest.

Consider investing in shares — they are more tax-effective than property.

Use the benefits of superannuation rules.

Structure your investments to pay minimum tax.

Take advantage of capital-protected loans.

Understand how smart timing pays off with investment gains and losses.

Choose tax-effective managed funds.

Understand the importance of keeping good records.

Freeman goes on to explain these strategies in depth. He points out that while not all 10 strategies will suit everyone, most should be able to reap useful savings from at least some of them.

Freeman says anyone who is looking for legitimate ways to pay less tax needs to be sure they know the difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion. Essentially avoiding tax is usually regarded as legitimate since it implies that you have fully declared all taxable income, minus legitimate deductions. In contrast, evasion refers to someone attempting to hide taxable income by not declaring it.

The penalties for evasion are severe and in extreme cases can include prison. The tax office also has wide powers to disallow avoidance strategies it regards as contrived and mainly tax driven. If an investment scheme or product looks like it will generate a big tax saving, there is a good chance it is tax driven and will almost certainly be challenged.

Pam Walkley adds to Money's Tax Special by supplying tips on preparing your return and how to get your rebate quickly
Choice. The problem is choice.

accountants can be classified into a couple of different categories. Unfortunately I am not a tax accountant who is really specialist on tax. What I wrote about tax is all very basic and aimed at general readers.

As far as I know, for a pure salary eaner without business and/or investment, the scope of tax avoidance is very limited.

SALARY SACRIFICE is that tranfer part of your income into your super which you can't touch it before you retire, but the advantage is only 15% tax. this case suits high income earner and close retiree.
laptop or mobile belong to salary package, you can do it once a year only if you have employer's permission. you can only use mobile for yourself, but you can give laptop to someone else.

it's my understanding. please correct me if you know more.

What types of benefits can be included?

All non-cash benefits can be sacrificed. The issue is that these benefits form part of the employee's remuneration, replacing what otherwise could have been paid as salary.

The types of benefits generally provided in salary sacrifice arrangements by employers include employer superannuation, fringe benefits and exempt benefits.

Superannuation

Salary-sacrificed superannuation contributions are employer contributions, which when paid in respect of an employee to a complying superannuation fund are not fringe benefits.

Superannuation contributions made under a salary sacrifice arrangement for the benefit of an associate of an employee will be subject to FBT.

Fringe benefits

The fringe benefits are often car fringe benefits and expense payment fringe benefits such as the payment of the employee's loan repayments, school fees, childcare costs and home phone costs.
