The Student Services Officer is responsible for the provision of individual counselling services to students identified by an Academic Manager or teacher as being at risk of failure to successfully complete their course of study due to academic, attendance or personal issues. The Student Services Officer reports to the Admissions Manager, duties will include but not limited to:
• Counsel students regarding, academic, attendance and miscellaneous issues (Counseling qualification desirable)
• Support the Academic Manager and the Principal in the implementation of company policies
• Identify and contact appropriate external student welfare providers
• Prepare class rolls each week and distribute these to teachers
• Manage Guardianship and Homestay arrangements for students seeking to use this service
• Ability to speak Chinese with student parents regarding student’s performance
Successful candidates will need to have these mandatory skills:
• Fluent in both Chinese and English
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet critical deadlines;
• Ability to work collaboratively with client groups and stakeholders across the organisation;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Proven ability to handle sensitive issues and grievances
• Completion of Working with Children requirements
Desirable
• Experience in or an understanding of the education industry, particularly in relation to international students
• Knowledge and understanding of ESOS, The National Code and other legislative requirements
• Ability to commence immediately
