帮忙看看我儿子的情况

我儿子小学在澳洲读过2年，到2012年7月份（读完year7）为止，在中国读了6年，
如果我让他2013年5月份过来澳洲读书（肯定要先读语言学校，估计2014年可以参加year9），这样，中国读书的时间没到7周年，澳洲读书的时间（除掉12年级）也不到7年，是不是可以中文和英文都算第二语言？

官网上那句话，我也不是很懂啥意思
1. The student has been a resident in Australia for not more than seven calendar years immediately prior to 1 January in which Year 12 English is begun.
   2. English has been the student's major language of instruction for not more than seven years prior to the commencement of the year in which Year 12 English is begun

是不是说，只要12年级之前，没在澳洲读满7周年，都算esl？

有一种说法是在国内读到中学就要算中文第一语言。ESL那个应该没什么问题。

不过ESL那个仔细读，我的理解是第一条是说身在澳洲不超过7年，跟上学不上学没有关系。第二条是说英文授课不到7年，也就是排除比如刚从英国来的孩子也申请ESL。所以如果我的理解是正确的，lz儿子具体回中国前在澳洲呆了几年可能也会有关系。

Eligibility Criteria

Chinese Second Language

A student is NOT eligible for Chinese Second Language if they have had either:

12 months or more education in a school where Chinese is the medium of instruction, or
3 years (36 months) or more residence in any of the VCAA nominated countries or regions.
The nominated countries and regions are China, Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macau.

Chinese Second Language Advanced

A student is eligible for Chinese Second Language Advanced if:

they have had no more than 7 years of education in a school where Chinese is the medium of instruction
the highest level of education attained in a school where Chinese is the medium of instruction is no greater than the equivalent of Year 7 in a Victorian school.
The time periods referred to in these criteria will be counted cumulatively since the time of the student’s birth.

As the formal education commencement age for a Victorian student is 5 years of age, then all applicants will be deemed to have commenced formal education by the end of their 5th year of age, regardless of the setting.

LZ跟中文学校的老师确认吧。

条件要求好多。

按VCAA的要求看，想第二语言advanced，如果两个条件都要满足，那国内开始读Year 8肯定是不行的，最高学历超了。Y7都不一定，因为涉及到年龄。

不过这样也公平。而且VCE中文第一语言的卷子，连国内小学毕业的水平都没有，弱得很。主要就是要摸准答题思路之类。

看条例说是从5岁算起，是否在中国读书超过7年。

ESl 是不是简单，容易拿高分。对想读律师或医生的划算。

还是在NSW简单。记得以前在中文学校学习时，老师说，只要父母双方都说中文的话，Chinese就是母语。
