Police say they’re bracing for violent retribution after up to 10 gang members allegedly stabbed three rivals in a horrifying home invasion in Melbourne’s west.

Police are bracing for violent retribution after up to 10 gang members allegedly stabbed three rivals who had been drinking and playing card games during a horrifying home invasion.

Police on Saturday made the rare decision to publicly label it a conflict between rival street gangs.

Senior constable Rhys MacLean-Currie said it was a targeted attack in which batons, hunting and fishing knives were allegedly used.

“Investigators believe that this is a gang-related incident between two opposing gangs known to police and known to the area,” he said.

The home’s owner, Aga Arefeen, who picked his way through the blood and glass, said he was just “devastated”.

“It’s heartbreaking, it was my favourite property,” he said at his home, which had been turned into a crime scene.

“They have broken my whole house. Why do they rent the house to do this?”

Locals in Truganina say the home is a notorious “party house”.

Neighbour Jose Sunglao said police were called to the house “almost every month” and it had been happening for years.

 ...

Fellow neighbour Kuldeep Singh also said there were issues at the house every couple of weeks.

“We want a safe place to live. My kids are living here, they used to ride their bicycles here but it’s not safe for them,” he said.

“Every weekend night they play loud music. It’s difficult for us to live here.

“If a stabbing is happening in your next door, how would you feel — we don’t feel safe here.”

The neighbours believe the same groups of people have returned to the house for multiple stays.

They claim to have reported the home to police and council on multiple occasions.

The homeowner refuted those claims but did admit that the house has had previous trouble with teenagers.

“Almost every month is not true”, he says, stating the last time an event occurred involving police was a couple of years ago.

“They don’t care about the neighbours, they don’t care about the area, they don’t care about the peaceful things — they just try to show their power.”

Mr Arefeen said he was not notified of the guests’ details as it is booked through the online agency.

Online reviews of the home painted a clear picture.
“Absolutely filthy and not recommended. We will never stay here again,” one review read.

“The house was completely filthy ... this would have to be the worst place I’ve stayed at.”

“One of (the most) dirty and unhygienic properties I have ever seen,” another claimed.

Another disgruntled visitor said the towels and sheets inside were dirty and stained.

“It was filthy. Never cleaned at all,” their review read.
