All Victorian government schools must conduct the minimum delivery times for physical education and sport education.
Details
Schools must conduct the following minimum delivery times for physical education and sport education:
Prep to Year 3
20 to 30 minutes of physical education per day
Year 4 to Year 6
1 hour and 30 minutes of physical education per week
1 hour and 30 minutes of sport per week
Year 7 to 10
100 minutes of physical education per week
100 minutes of sport per week
There are no minimum requirement for years 11 and 12, however, all schools should consider how they offer opportunities for students in year 11 and 12 to be regularly active.
Definitions
Physical education
The delivery of the physical education curriculum through timetabled and structured classes.
Sport
Any form of sport (inter or intra school) within the educational setting which is timetabled into the school week. |
