可能因为只是热身赛,不是商业性质比赛和那种会强调成绩的。所以也没有做很多市场宣传。
不知道澳洲方面怎么安排的。。。。。比赛都不在热闹的地区。

NewsShare on Facebook Opals overcome China to gain series lead + VIDEO
11.08.09
Australia's women's basketball team has begun to avenged a 2-1 series loss to China in May by winning the opening contest of three game series against China at the AIS Arena in Canberra by twelve points, 77-65.

[Box Score]

Ahead by thirteen points with one quarter to play, Australia’s lead was cut to five points when less than two minutes remained before Olympian Emma Randall connected on a long range field goal to change momentum and Australia iced the game from the free throw line.

Beijing Olympian Rohanee Cox led the Opals with 14 points including a buzzer beating three-pointer to end the game in a match where all eleven Australian players scored.

Guards Alicia Poto (11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) and Natalie Hurst (10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist) combined well in the back court while Lizzie Cambage (10 points, 4 rebounds) and Emma Randall (9 points, 6 rebounds) controlled the paint.

China’s Zhengyu Ma connected on 5-of-7 three-pointers and led all scorers with 21 points.

Opals head coach Carrie Graf was relieved to get her first win as Opals head coach on home soil and was pleased with her team’s defensive intensity.

“It was a good effort to hold China to 65 points,” Graf said.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do defensively but that was a good start for this young group.

“Rohanee Cox set a standard in rebounding the ball offensively. I thought Lizzie Cambage, the baby big that she is, came in and did a solid job close to the rim and Poto and Hurst did a great job pressuring the ball.

“There’s some good signs there.

“In international basketball thirteen points can swing around like that but we were conscious not to let them back in.”

Deanna Smith was a late withdrawal from the game after being diagnosed with pneumonia this afternoon as was Carly Wilson with a back injury. Both are expected to rejoin the team for the second game of the series on August 17.

Australia plays China in Geelong on Monday before the final game of the three match series in Dandenong on August 21.

Emma Randall got an offensive rebound and converted it for Australia’s first points and the Opals led for most of a rough and tumble first quarter before China closed the gap near the first buzzer.

Ma Zengyu put China up for the first time in the match with a three pointer after play resumed before Australia’s defence stepped up to provide some opportunities from turnovers.

Cambage kept the scoreboard ticking over from in close and when Poto nailed a shot from just inside the arc just as the half time buzzer sounded the Opals had pushed their lead out to six points, 35-29.

Australia had forced 12 turnovers to garner the lead and behind a 20-14 rebounding count they were winning the physical battle but a 37 per cent shooting clip from the field and 0-for-3 from long range left the Opals with plenty of work to do.

China came out of the sheds firing on all cylinders but Cox drained Australia’s first three-pointer of the game to steady the ship and the Opals continued to pound the ball inside to great advantage.

Cambage and Tolo were controlling the paint and when China started to miss the Opals were off and running, pushing their six point half time lead out to thirteen after three quarters of play.

China continued to fight in the final stanza and reduced the margin to ten points on a Zhang Wei running two point shot when 3:20 remained on the clock.

Australia called a time out to regroup but when China put on five unanswered points to take the score to 69-64 Carrie Graf was forced to call another to break China’s momentum.

It worked, with Randall stepping up with a big shot to end China’s hopes of a comeback.

Australia had won the physical battle and the rebound count, 41-26, with seventeen of those boards offensive.

Opals succumb to China in nailbiter
17.08.09
The Australian Opals were overthrown by China 95-93 at The Geelong Arena tonight as the Asian powerhouse levelled the three game series at one win apiece.

Tonight’s result sets up a thrilling finale on Friday night in Dandenong where the winner will take the series.

The Opals had the game in their hands in the dying seconds when first Rohanee Cox missed a wide open shot before Jess Foley failed to get a handle on an inbound pass with 5.5 seconds on the clock, turning the ball over to the Chinese.

Olympian Hollie Grima was the dominant player in the first half posting 18 points, she added four in the second half to score a game high 22 points. Beijing teammate Rohanee Cox added 17 points while 17 year old Liz Cambage bagged a double double with 10 points and a game high 10 rebounds.

Opals Head Coach Carrie Graf said the Australians needed to pick up their defensive effort.

“[China] are a hell of a team and they shot the ball exceptionally well but our defence was appalling; we didn’t make adjustments, poor at negotiating screens, 95 points in anyone’s book is way too many,” Graf said.

“You can’t… expect to win games with someone scoring that much.”

“They got too many easy shots. Defensively we weren’t on anyone. I don’t think we executed that well offensively, I think we made some big shots but there wasn’t any offensive flow. I don’t think we had rhythm, Cambage provided some good target inside for a while there but… I don’t think we showed any poise.”

While the Opals nailed their first play, both teams took a while to get into their groove but the Australians were the first to settle down with Grima leading them to a 25-18 advantage at the first break.

The Australians came out hard in the second quarter as big Liz Cambage stood her ground against 206cm Chinese centre Wei Wei, ripping down the rebounds. 190cm Grima made it look easy as she drained a long three before casually hitting a fade away jump shot.

The Opals continued to come up with stops as first Rohanee Cox then Nat Hurst ran in easy lay ups, forcing China to call a time out with 6:30 left in the quarter and a 36-23 advantage to Australia.

Hurst finished a tough fade away to fire up the Opals bench as the Australian bigs continued to slash to the basket for easy put-aways.

The Opals stuttered late in the half with some wayward passes but they held off China for an eight point lead at the half, 49-41.

The Chinese team came out of the long break determined to fight back and immediately took it to the Aussies. With the lead cut back to four points Graf called the Opals to the bench to regroup.

The tough talking paid dividends as the Opals kicked into gear with Rohanee Cox lighting up for seven points in 50 seconds to hand the Opals back the edge, 76-67 at the last break.

With less than five minutes on the clock the Opals were just holding on to a two point lead. Graf rang in the changes as Athens Olympian Alicia Poto limped to the bench but China stole the lead with 3:23 remaining.

China stayed cool and kept executing their plays to find space under the basket but could not shake the steely Aussies.

The Opals had the ball with 5.5 seconds remaining but could not pull off the play.

hoho...........
