Morphology scan (排畸B超) is usually done between 18 and 20 weeks. Most organs can be seen at 17 weeks, but a little later (around 20 weeks) is better to detect cardiac (heart) abnormalities.
To determine sex reliably, you need be at least 15-16 weeks. Girl is not equal to the absent of the boy bits. If the doctor can see a slit between the legs, it is relative certain be a girl. Before 15 week, the penis of boy and the clitoris of girl are similar in size and the testicles are not in scrotum untill late pregnancy, it is hard to be certain about the sex by ultrasound appearance in early gestation.
The last thing I would like to mention is the experience of the person doing the scan is extremely important. Not all the foetal anomalies (畸形) are detected by 排畸B超. The obstetric ultrasound specialist can detect 70-80% of foetal anomalies while the general ultrasound place (e.g bulk-billing scan) can only detect about 30-40% of the 畸形.
