I decided to DIY a server for my own with possible 5-6 desktops office.

For software, I have a free version of Windows 2012 R2, which should be alright at present, with SQL 2014. So a Windows server is a reasonable choice.

My Question is: Coffeelake i7 (8700) with Z370 or upcoming Xeon E-2100 series (2146G) with C246

Does anyone have any advice or experience with previous Xeon E3 1200 with C236? much appreciate

why not put your server in to the AWS cloud and get it provisioned with spot resource?

the software using needs workstation/server model, not the cloud yet

MS Azure or Amazon AWS

connecting your private network to cloud ? use Azure express route or AWS direct connect.... not cheap tho
so talk to IT consultant for solution suit you the most
