Today I am celebrating my 20th Christmas Eve in this Christian country.
On my way to having lunch with my friends today, I saw a kind hearted guy hand over a bag of McDonald’s takeaway to a homeless person. With his heavy Aussie accent, the Asian appearance man told the guy: “Take it, it’s fresh” …… I was touched. Christmas is about Love, regardless race and religions.
I haven’t seen my friends for months. Everyone has been busy. We had lot to share, we shared about health. One of us was discovered cancer and recovered luckily after surgery. It’s been a difficult year for him; we shared about work. One of us was just managed to survive in the Westpac taking over while many of his colleagues have lost their jobs; we all agreed it’s been a very difficult year for all of us. I am so glad to see that we all managed to go through the financial crisis … Christmas is about Care and Friendship.
I was so sad to see the news tonight. A 5 year old boy has to spend his 4th Christmas in the Westmead Hospital. He was so upset. I fell how he felt. I felt how his parents felt. I looked at my healthy and happy children. We are so lucky.
I thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas dinner tonight, the best dinner for the year. Not only the delicious dishes made by my most talented wife but also having the chance to share the Christmas spirit with my family. I was delighted to learn that my kids appreciated what they’ve got and are willing to treat each other with more love in the coming year … Christmas, it’s about Family.
I recall the first Christmas Eve that I had in this country. It was a lonely, disappointed night. 20 years have gone by. I have not given up but tried hard instead. I don’t classify myself as a religious person. Nevertheless, I appreciate that God is always with me. I have no doubt life will be better and better with God’s unconditional love. |
