请教，如何回答 why did you leave the previous company?

我失业了，因为公司生意不好。现在在找工作，可是很担心面试的时候肯定会被问到  why did you leave the previous company?
请教各位，我该怎么回答?如果说是被老板裁掉的话，会不会被追问‘为什么是你被裁掉，而不是别人？’
请大家帮我出出主意吧。谢谢各位了

如果真的是“被老板裁掉的话”，也不好这么说吧！就说项目结束了，不再需要你了，不是更好一些吗？

也谢谢楼上，我也想过这个借口。可是我担心如果查reference的话，不知道老板会怎么讲，如果不一致岂不是更不好。

就用AS的回答就好.什么时候了,谁都能理解的.编其他的理由更麻烦.我一个朋友的公司刚裁了30几人.剩下的我觉得比被裁的更残,我朋友都快得忧郁症了.

好像最好说一声同时裁了多少人，这样让对方相信不是因为你个人的原因被裁的。

Well to be honest, you have to be honest :)

In a standard situation the reply should be - Well, it was a hard decision as I have made many friends there and gained respect of my peers (to show you have people skills). I have been at my old company for a number of years now, during my time there I have learnt a lot of things (to show you have gained years of relevant experience) and feel that I would like to explore my horizon in a new company (such as yours) because I want to take up new challenges and strive for another level of acheivement (to show that u always aiming for higher aspirations)

If you were made redundant but you have a really good relationship with your ex-boss, you can still use the above reasoning and just ask him to cover your ass.

If you were made redundant and you can't get him to cover your ass, it would be better to own up but use excuses like that your old company had to downsize, therefore had to outsource their, accounting, design, IT off-shore + the above answer

Thanks a lot. But I am still wondering how to make a good excuse if I am asked ' why it is you that was made redudant ,instead of anyone else?'. My situation is my previous company is my boss owned  company, very small, only 8  people.I was the only girl in this company. It doesn't sound reasonble to outsource off-shore ,etc. as it is too small.
Can you please give me more idea? thank you.
