I guess it's still easier for everyone to understand if we stick with the grammar...African Americans do have the tendency to create their own version of English, but that's just them...

Worst Grammar Offenses in Pop Culture

此文章由 steveking 原创或转贴,不代表本站立场和观点,版权归 oursteps.com.au 和作者 steveking 所有!转贴必须注明作者、出处和本声明,并保持内容完整
http://thegrammarvandal.wordpres ... ses-in-pop-culture/

I was perusing the discussion boards on the “Good Grammar Is Hot” group on Facebook, and I came across a discussion of the worst grammar offenses in pop culture.

Here are some of them:

John G:

Okay, mine is from Justin Timberlake’s song “what goes around.” He actually
says, “my heart BLEEDED, girl”

Well, there aren’t too many words that rhyme with cheated. Did I mention that I swore up and down that I thought I saw him driving through Powderhouse Circle the other night when he was in town?

Joaquina G:

How about the song “the way I are”

Alexa already brought that up! Timbaland doesn’t even sing that line anywhere in the song! It’s just the title!

Caleb T:

“How you doing?” ……………..stupid Joey

Heh.

Marc Z:

That rap tune that goes “is you is or is you ain’t” is pretty bad. Also, The Doors song, Touch Me, features the lyric:
“I’m gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky
For you and I”
Which has always bothered me.

I cannot STAND it when people use I instead of me. The people who do this tend to emphasize the I, and many probably think that they’re being intelligent, speaking better than anyone. Well, all of you know that they’re wrong.

Ellen A:

Does anyone else hate Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry?”
“I’m not gonna miss you, like a child misses their blanket.”
It grates, and I have to change the station until the song is over.

I completely agree. This line of the song bugs me SO much! It ruins the song for me, and the song isn’t even that great. (I think Fergie should stick to the crazy/strange dance numbers.)

Abigail B:

backstreet boys “all i have to give”
“does his friends get all your time?” and “does his gifts come from the heart?”
gee, i DOESN’T know… DOES THEY??

This is for the Brood, my best friends from home. We used to make music videos to this song and “I Want It That Way.”

Yoni B:

In a rap song (the rapper’s name eludes me at the moment):’Do your chain hang low? Do it wobble to the floor(read “flo”)? Do it shine in the light? Is it platinum, is it gold?’He’s managed to rhyme ‘low’ with ‘floor’ and ‘gold.’ Quite the feat.

I detest this song.

Kandi R:

John Cougar Mellencamp, “Small Town”. I’m a Hoosier from a small town myself, and I love the song, and I love the Coug, but one of the lines is: “and I cannot forget from where it is that I come from”.

Oh, God. Beyond redundant.

I’m not going to comment on the specific writing of these Facebook posters.

Why not?

I’m here to talk about grammar errors made by companies, businesses, groups and institutions with the financial means to afford an editor. I don’t go after individuals unless the errors are jaw-droppingly egregious, and I don’t turn up my nose at every email I receive. (So many of you write to tell me that you’re afraid of what I’ll say about your writing — relax!!)

That being said, however, I am a bit surprised that some of the people in a group called “Good Grammar Is Hot” have no qualms about posting a sentence full of errors.

That is all.

It’s late and I have to be at work in just over nine hours….I only got home from work an hour ago. OH, NO!! I just realized that I missed Barack Obama on The Daily Show!!

I have some plans for tomorrow night — I’m going out to Union with my friend Lisa, as they still have their Restaurant Week menu (for more on Restaurant Week, visit Kate’s Adventures) — and then we may try to visit the Beehive or just do our usual Hong Kong thing. Either way, I won’t be posting tomorrow night.

Have a great few days!

一般都是把“我”放在后面,就是"my friend and I" or "my friend and me",至于这两个

http://www.askoxford.com/asktheexperts/faq/aboutgrammar/meandi

Which is correct: 'my friend and me' or 'my friend and I'?

That depends on where you and your friend are in the sentence. In colloquial speech 'me' is often used where standard grammar requires 'I', especially when someone else is mentioned too. Sometimes people use 'I' instead of 'me', because they know 'me' is sometimes wrong, but have not understood the principle. (Others resort to 'myself', which can sound rather pompous.)

I am the subject of the sentence, but the object of the sentence is me.

If in doubt, take your friend out of the sentence.

Me and my friend went to a party last night. [Wrong]
I and my friend went to a party last night.

My friend and me went to a party last night. [Wrong]
My friend and I went to a party last night.

The mayor has invited me and my husband.
The mayor has invited I and my husband. [Wrong]

The mayor has invited my husband and me.
The mayor has invited my husband and I. [Wrong]

Incidentally, saying 'my friend and I' instead of 'I and my friend' is not better grammar, it's just being polite.

Is there such a thing as grammar?

此文章由 inferencemel 原创或转贴,不代表本站立场和观点,版权归 oursteps.com.au 和作者 inferencemel 所有!转贴必须注明作者、出处和本声明,并保持内容完整
Non-native speaker are critising native speakers.
Imagine a 鬼佬 try to criticize your Chinese grammar.
What's gonna be your response. Most people's response would be "Hey!, What the hell do you know about Chinese? Or There's no grammar in Chinese!", Or at least in my years, my 语文老师 never teaches Chinese grammar.
So Is there really such a thing as grammar in English?? ???
Language itself is a live thing, so it's ever changing.

In Shakespeare period, there's no 助动词 in English. In stead of saying: " I don't like you", they say "I like thou not".  "thou" is old English for "you"
So what is grammar.

Why can't non-native speakers question native speakers on things that doesn't make sense?

你为什么觉得说绝大多数中国人会说“汉语没有语法”?汉语不但有语法,而且语法相当完备,最简单的主谓宾定状补,大家都学过吧?你的语文老师没教过你这个?我不相信

And yes, there is grammar in English. There was, there is, and there will be. What the grammar was in the past may not necessarily be the same as that of now and that of the future, but at any given moment, there is a set of grammar that is mutually agreed among the speakers so that people can understand each other precisely. Yes language is a living thing, new words and terms get invented everyday and some existing ones become obsolete and eventually disappear; but you can't say there is no grammar. Being constantly changing over a long period of time is not in conflict with being relative stable at a given period of time.

通过母语学习第二语言,这第二语言的语法通常能学得很好,有时能好过把此第二语言当作母语的人。

一种是深思熟虑把语法想透了才开口,知道什么词该在什么位置。
另一种是不假思索脱口而出,虽然语法是对的,但不用去想所以经不起细问答不上来。

你所谓的中文语法是什么?所谓的“主谓宾定状补”只是近代人try to use western ideas to summaries or describe or standardize Chinese. However as we all known, its' very unsuccessful and very stupid. There's no set of universally accepted rules in Chinese of how to use 主谓宾定状补 etc.?
If there's really grammar in Chinese, Why is that: 中华几千年的文化遗产、经史子集中为何么没有一本“中文语法”著作呢?
Yes, there's a couple of pages in 中学语文书 which describe the so called 主谓宾定状补, but that only constitutes less than 5% of what 's been taught in 语文. So are you saying before you have taken that class, you don't know how to speak Chinese.  As far as I remember in 语文高考中, there's no questions about 主谓宾定状补?

There's grammar in programming language, because that's been purposely developed to follow a set of rules so that everyone can write it through learning the grammar. Is there really grammar in a real language? After all there's language first, then people try to summarize it into a so called "grammar" , so that it's easier for foreigners to learn that language. (often there are cases when these so called rules are contradicting to each other etc.). Strictly follow those so called "grammar"s will only lead to 本末倒置
