Thank you for sending your image into Discovery Centre at Melbourne Museum. Juvenile white-tailed spiders can be black and white striped but this spider is a species from the family Salticidae, commonly known as jumping spiders. This is a large family in Australia with in excess of 250 different species. They don't build a web and wait for their food but instead go actively hunting it, hence their well-developed eyes and ability to jump. These spiders are not aggressive and are not considered highly dangerous.
Yours could be a male Ocrisonia jovialis, see the images in the link below but we can’t see enough detail in the image to be sure.
