A reform-minded Chinese official with close ties to Australia

In his previous role, Dr Fang pushed for the Australian dollar to be granted direct currency trading rights with the Chinese yuan, while working to promote Shanghai as a financial services hub. He has visited Australia several times, most recently as a guest of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has run the Shanghai Financial Services Office since 2007.
