To whom it may concern,
I am a current Monash residence at XXXXXXX, I would like to express my concern regarding the proposed residential rezoning.
I am against the new rezoning on the grounds that it is more restrictive to subdivide land and it goes against the progress of accommodating Melbourne into a 6 million population city by 2050.
Making Monash council a garden city doesn't necessarily makes Melbourne a garden city as a whole. People will have to settle else that is further to several core Melbourne activities centres, hence the development of new lands and infrastructures will make Melbourne less green and environmentally friendly.
Instead Monash should be denser to accommodate more people for many reasons.
- It is more sustainable solution where it restricts expansion of Melbourne in size whilst accommodate the increase in population.
- Making Monash denser will preserve the greens and trees surrounding Melbourne fringe.
- Provide more people with job opportunities in Monash.
- Provide a fair chance for more people to have great access already established in Monash.
The proposed change to decrease maximum site coverage, increase onsite permeability, increase of rear setback and secluded 60sqm private open space should be more dependable on the needs of the landlord not the council. Clearly this alteration will significantly reduce the possibility of adding values to the land for future, and unfair to landlords who inhabit in the Monash council and may want to access land to subdivide for future generations.
Kindly regards.
