Went to a business trip with 2 Guilao colleagues today. Climbing up the ladder to the plane cabin of REX with one in front and the other at my back, the stewardess asked me, 'Are you able to provide assistance while you are sitting at the emergency exit?'.
I heard that she said like 'if you need assistance in an emergency'. I said 'No.'
She looked at me with very weird sight and led me to a front vacant seat, but not my original seat with the Emergency Exit sign. My colleagues started to laugh at me and one guy said,‘REX has had 30 years history and you are the first one who said No. Later it was clarified with the Guilao and I eventually understood.
At last, my chance came to get rid of the awkward situation I was experienced. The plane stopped and the stewardess was bidding farewell to everyone. I walked in front of the 2 Guilao and told her, 'You asked me if I could assist, but I thought you were asking if I need assistance in emergency'.
It was over. I just don't want my local work mates to look me down on my crap English. |
