Minister responsible for Fair Trading Victor Dominello will today open a free forum in Sydney for Chinese small business owners.
Mr Dominello said the forum will be held at the Novotel Hotel, 169 Thomas Street Haymarket, at 5:30pm and Cantonese and Mandarin interpreters will be present.
A second forum will be held at the St George Leagues Club on Tuesday 9 June, 124 Princes Highway, in collaboration with Kogarah City Council and the Chinese Australian Services Society. A Mandarin interpreter will be present.
“There are a unique set of regulations and requirements which apply to business in NSW and through these seminars we are giving Chinese small business operators access to expert advice on how to navigate the system,” Mr Dominello said.
The seminars are being delivered in partnership with the Chinese Australian Services Society, the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Office of the Migration Authority Registration Agency.
Advice will be offered on topics such as product safety, the operation of the Australian Consumer Law, business registrations and renewals and working with the Federal Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
The small business forums are part of NSW Fair Trading’s ongoing commitment to delivering targeted education and support to culturally and linguistically diverse communities through the Think Smart program.
The seminars are free, but bookings are essential. To book for Tuesday 2 June contact Neneth Costa on 9619 8705 or neneth.costa@finance.nsw.gov.au or for the Tuesday 9 June seminar by contacting Nicole Rogan at the Kogarah City Council on 9330 9558 or Nicole.rogan@kogarah.nsw.gov.au. |
