Harmony Day: This year we did not officially celebrate Harmony Day on 21 March. In the words of our Director-General, Dr Michelle Bruniges, Harmony Day is an annual event where we reach out to understand and respect the many different cultures that make up our multicultural nation. It's a time to share what we have in common and ensure there is a sense of belonging among our students, colleagues, friends and
acquaintances. Given our re-focus on social justice issues, I would like to congratulate all of you for ensuring the spirit of Harmony Day is alive and well at James Ruse. March 21 is the date designated by the United Nations as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. However its theme- Sport - play, engage, inspire- is with us all year. It was particularly visible during our Cross Country Carnival. Our students ran, coached, volunteered and cheered. Again, in the words of our DG , sport has the capacity to unite and inspire people of all ages and from all walks of life.
