我看了看林家血案的国际讨论,很多关注过的人也都表示对谢是独狼灭门凶手的疑惑:

Yes, I understand that - but apparently the family had antagonized and berated him for a long time for being jobless and 'unsuccessful'. He had harbored a lot of resentment for them for a long time. But why that particular evening? What caused him to snap and do it? Reports were that he had, infact, had dinner over at their house that evening with his wife. I wonder what was said over the dinner table.

What if he actually was set up?

I might be horribly wrong but I'd imagine Robert was the least successful member of the family - perhaps he owed him money or he was jealous?
The Lin Family Massacre
In brief - On July 18 2009, the entire Lin family - Newsagent owner Min, his wife Lily, their sons Henry (9) and Terry (12) and their aunt Irene were brutally murdered in their home in Epping, Sydney Australia.
The ensuing investigation pointed towards Robert Xie, Min's son-in-law, but after three trials, no verdict has been reached. The latest trial concluded yesterday - in NSW there are no double jeopardy provisions, so the accused can be tried multiple times.

This is one of the most chilling cases, to my mind, in Australian criminal history - and we've had some shockers over the years.
That there is enough reasonable doubt for 3 juries to not convict Xie begs the question - just who did kill the Lin family, and why?
It's a bit of a rabbit hole, and some aspects of the story might be unfamiliar to foreign readers. For example, our legal system, the role of the NSW Crime Commission, which is a kind of quasi-judicial intelligence / criminal investigation agency, but I'm pretty well versed in it if anyone has questions.
It would be interesting to hear from any other Sydneysiders with theories.
Given the repeated failure to get a conviction, my theory is either Xie had knowledge of the murders, had contact or provided assistance to the killer, or else he's completely innocent and a person who murders entire families that are unknown to them is still at large. Both are frightening propositions.

Nothing I have ever seen on the internet could have prepared me for the pictures that were exhibited as evidence. It may have been how grounded they were in reality compared to some random picture of a destroyed face online, but I feel like I can say that I've never seen more disgusting images in my life.
The rooms were nice. Everyone had their own and the staff did their best for us.

It's definitely an odd case. It took the police 2 years to arrest him, that hints there was little to no evidence.
If I were to guess, he's innocent but the police had no leads on anyone else so convinced themselves it was him.

Plus the fact that the guy who Robert supposedly gave the 'confession' to was allegedly told he would be considered for bail if he got a confession out of Robert. There doesn't seem to be much evidence beyond that.

Man I hope Helen Garner is writing a book on this murder. It's dam interesting. Also I could see all the media coverage causing trouble with the next trial. Not all journo's are as careful as they should be when commenting on matters still in court.

This bloke has been on remand for 5 years, what a joke. If there is a shred of doubt surrounding his guilt the only outcome should be not guilty.
