我不看，老看不进去。。。因为即使都看懂了，也感觉不到文笔的美。

我同事建议我先从英文高中读物看起，逐渐培养自己的兴趣。

大家有什么意见和建议吗？

我发现paperback的书榜也同样有借鉴性
甚至比hard-cover的更能体现畅销书的魅力
所以今天就加上，不定期更新

一般首版书都是hard-cover的，一年后出版首版的paperback（也就是平装书），需要再版的话一般也是出平装的，精装书20-30块，平装本一般为7.99 。当然也有例外的。
那些在榜单上一百多周的，都是真正的畅销书。

我建议你可以从少儿文学开始读起（适合12-18岁）
那些小说比较容易，没有难字，故事也很吸引人
比如Nancy Drew的侦探小说系列
有一百多本
应该会很吸引人，又不难

她喜欢搞些侦探之类的玩意，号称“校园侦探”“美眉侦探”
（这本书还被拍成电视剧呢）

你就会发现自己可阅读的书成几何级增长

选择适合自己英文的材料来阅读
碰到生字，尽量不要查字典
否则查字典查得烦了，很容易放弃
很多生字到后来意思都会被猜出来的

对了，我的第一部小说是《鲁滨逊漂流记》。看得那个难啊。我硬是坚持读完了，但是毫无乐趣可言，纯粹心理安慰。

第二部小说安徒生童话，倒是很简单，哗啦啦看完了，不觉得特别有趣。因为我已经过了看童话的年龄。

第三部小说哈里波特，我只看了二十页，彻底放弃。从此不看英文小说。。。

孔武说得对。

另外有一点，总是会忍不住去查字典，有个生词就老觉得有个GE DA在。生怕自己因为这个词漏掉了重要的信息。虽然实际证明，那些生词都是些不重要的修饰语形容词。

不明白为什么英文书要出版hard-cover 和paperback。hard-cover 太重了，paperback 不是更轻又方便吗？每次去图书馆借书一定找paperback。

一般是这样的：
首版书都是精装本(hard-cover)
再版书一般就是软装的了(paperback)
paperback一般比首版hard-cover晚10个月左右出版
举个例：
John Grisham 的the Appeal，去年1月出的hard-cover, 同年11月出的paperback，因此这本书，会在paperback的榜单上看到
而在hard-cover榜单上面，则是他的最新小说（今年1月出版）the Associate

由于每周新书出版很多，一般hard-cover畅销书在NY前10的榜单上逗留的时间较短，数周至数月，也有上榜大半年的，那属于非常成功的畅销书了，以前
的the Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns都属此类，而在paperback的榜单上，则会出现畅销数年的经典佳作，
比如Obama的自传，Dreams from My Father，在paperback榜单上已经连续137周了，本周位列第2，也就是说，这本书已经畅销不衰近3年了
一般这种书都能给出版社赚个盆满钵满

因此尽管我也喜欢轻薄短小的paperback，有时候为了及时看到最新图书，还是得手捧厚重的砖头书
