我觉得,skies (黑的,红的,白的,不同的天空), and clouds (大的,小的,鬼怪的,牛羊的,灰色的), 感觉很有想象力。随意有什么不好么?
描写sky的:

3. The edges of the sky had a yellowish tinge like cheap paper darkening in the sunlight —Ross Macdonald
4. The sky is gilded with red, as if intoxicated —Cora Sandel
5. The grey, soft, muffled sky moved like the sea on a silent day —Nadine Gordimer
6. The sky changed through several colors and became a soft crumbled gray. It was like walking under the roof of an enormous cave where hidden fires burned low —Ross Macdonald
7. The evening sky, with its head dark and its scarves of color, looked like an Italian woman with an orange in her hand —Christina Stead
8. Sky … flat and unreal as a glimpse of distant ocean —Sharon Sheehe Stark
9. The sky looked billowy, as if you could catch the corners of it and toss the stars around as in a net —Ada Jack Carver
10. The sky hovering overhead like a soundless dirigible that was about to crash —Heinrich Böll
描写cloud的
1. The cloud showed motion within, like an old transport truck piled high with crate on crate of sleepy white chickens —Eudora Welty
2. Gleaming, white fluffy clouds peeped over the hills … like kittens —Stella Benson
3. Like a grave face, lit by some last, sad thought, a cloud, tinged by the fading glow of sunset —John Hall Wheelock
4. Like blurred lenses, winter clouds cast a shade over the sun —Truman Capote
5. Little white clouds … like a row of ballet-girls, dressed in white, waiting at the back of the stage, alert and merry, for the curtain to go up —W. Somerset Maugham
6. A long thin cloud crossed the moon slowly, drawing itself out like a name being called —Eudora Welty
7. Low on the horizon hung a fugitive wisp of cloud, spiraled and upthrust like a genie emerging from a bottle —Robert Traver
8. Some small clouds, like rosy petals, seemed to his eyes to be dancing, gently and carefully, against the blue —Hugh Walpole
9. Troops of small feathery white clouds ranged over the sky, like grazing herds of the gods —Thomas Mann
