我发现美国初中学的英文课程跟Hornsby Girls相比有很大的差别。
在Hornsby Girls,七年级英文课程 ...
The educational challenges in US middle schools are usually just so-so as middle school is not the priority. There won't be many drama and public speech programs, either due to the limited resources, as the public school is mostly funded by local residents.
The dramatic change comes in Grade 9. In a good school district, most students usually don't have enough time to sleep. Some of them even have to give up either one music or sport due to the tight schedule.
My impression is that AU's year 7/8 will be more fun then those in US, but year 9-12 are less rigorous. (So you wont be disappointed in a couple of years.) A lot of classes in top US high schools will be taught in different streams not based on grade, but learning skills, more like in university. The top math stream could be very difficult, while in English class, a lot of literature topics will be studied with tons of reading/writing assignments
The followings are some good references to understand how a top public school works.
