The plaza will provide an open space connecting Hurstville Central shopping centre and railway station, Westfield and the Hurstville Transport Interchange.
Called Hurstville Central Plaza is is part of the Hurstville City Centre Concept Master Plan to revitalise the heart of Hurstville.
“The plans for Hurstville Central Plaza are entering the community consultation phase and this is a a great opportunity to have a say on plans for the future of this community space,” Georges River Council administrator John Rayner said.
“It is also an ideal time for the community to share their vision and ideas of what they would like to see included as part of this long-term strategy for the site.
“I’d like to encourage residents and business owners to make comment to ensure Hurstville Central Plaza reflects the needs and wants of our community.”
Mr Rayner said a new urban plaza and activity hub in the heart of Hurstville will provide a new vibrant meeting place, enhance community wellbeing and celebrate Hurstville’s diverse cultural heritage.
“It will also improve street-level connectivity between Hurstville Central (train station), Hurstville Westfield and Hurstville Transport Interchange, and will encourage new opportunities for activation from adjacent properties.”
Hurstville Central Plaza will include Diment Way and the building, to be demolished, currently located at 296 Forest Road, Hurstville. |
