工党政府在2011年7月开始,鼓励专科医生通过远程医疗服务来为偏远地区的病人诊治,以避免病人长途旅行往来于大城市和乡村之间。
Providing Rebates For Online Consultations
From 1 July 2011 people in remote, regional and outer metropolitan areas of Australia will have access to telehealth; an initiative allowing patients to have video consultations with a range of medical specialists. This will provide patients with easier access to specialists, without the time and expense involved in travelling to major cities.
Financial Incentives
From July 2011 Australian government has introduced new financial incentives for healthcare professionals and residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF’s) in order to encourage and support providing telehealth services to Australians in eligible areas.
These financial incentives will encourage:
Eligible Telehealth Practitioners to provide Telehealth Services to their patients;
Eligible Practitioners to Bulk Bill Telehealth Services; and
RACFs to provide Hosting Services to their residents.
Five types of Incentives are available for practitioners and RACFs:
Telehealth On-Board Incentive
Telehealth Service Incentives
Telehealth Bulk Billing Incentives

RACF Hosting Service Incentives
