anzsco_233411_electronics_engineer_australia.pdf
Vacancies were for positions working in the mining, manufacturing, medical product design, automotive
and military electronics sectors. Positions ranged from graduate level jobs requiring little or no experience
to senior positions which required a minimum of eight years experience.
The majority of vacancies required applicants to have both analogue and digital electronics experience.
A high proportion of vacancies were filled and there were multiple suitable applicants per vacancy.
A small number of vacancies remained unfilled because employers were recruiting for highly specialised
electronic engineering roles and although they attracted qualified applicant they did not have the required
experience.
Why applicants were unsuitable
Some qualified applicants were considered by employers to be unsuitable because they lacked the
minimum level of experience required (many were new graduates).
Employers commented that electronics engineering experience can be highly specialised and not
interchangeable between sectors within the occupation. This resulted in some experienced applicants
being considered to be unsuitable
