Hi all,
I have attached for your information a media release from the NSW Department of Health in regards to Enterovirus ( EV71). Please click on this link and read through the information attached.
http://www0.health.nsw.gov.au/news/2013/20130531_01.html
At Kids Inc, the staff have been reminded to be particularly vigilant about good hygiene and to help the children to practice good hygiene. It would be lovely if parents can also encourage good habits at home and teach their children how to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water when needed and to grab a tissue to cover their nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. We will do the same at Kids Inc, we always have plenty of tissues on hand and encourage the children to use them.
The staff here at Kids inc have been very thoroughly and systematically cleaning our bathroom and change areas every day and also routinely clean our toys and tables and chairs. We also want to minimise any chances of infectious diseases spreading in our centre.
If you do notice any signs of your child being sick or presenting with symptoms as listed by the NSW Dept of Health, please see your doctor straight away and avoid bringing your child to childcare until you are sure they are healthy. Most parents here at Kids Inc are very thoughtful in that regard and it's also great when you let me know if your children are sick - particularly if it is a contagious sickness.
Please also understand that if staff at Kids Inc contact you about your child showing signs of sickness, it is because we wish to minimise any spread of infection, and we do appreciate your prompt response in picking them up if needs be.
Furthermore, as the NSW Department of Health advises, don't be alarmed about this Enterovirus, just be aware, as we are dealing with a lot of sickness as we go through our Winter months.
Thanks for your understanding and consideration.
Regards, |
