The biggest issue with Chinese people in Australia getting better at English is that they seldom use it outside the workplace - and often don't within workplaces either.
The way to get better at it is to use it. If you leave work and then don't use English again until you get back to work the next day then it can be hard to improve. This is especially true if you work with Chinese people because then you will find yourself not using English there either.
So start looking for ways in your everyday life to get better at it. These things might not apply to you but do to various people I know and hopefully some of them are useful (apologies if some have alresady been said).
1. Read books in English
2. Write on this forum in English
3. Talk to your friends in English occasionally
4. Don't watch English TV shows or movies with Chinese sub-titles
5. Specifically watch English TV shows with more formal English. Things like the news or documentaries. Shows produced in the UK - especially set 50+ years ago. The English in UK cop shows and soaps is generally terrible so don't watch those.
6. Watch Cinese TV shows or movies with English sub-titles - as long as the sub-stitles have been written in an English speaking country.
Basically just work it into your life more. I have work colleagues who go a whole weekend without speaking English and when there is a longer break, like at christmas, their English noticeably deteriorates. So you just need to use it more to get better at sentence structure but also the "culture" that surrounds the language and then in more formal situations it will be easier to write.
