I think it just is a commercial operation. Personally, I don't like too much American culture stuff influencing Aussie, because  It has been overwhelming in Australia.  It's another form of spreading american dream I reckon.

Since Oprah announced she's coming to Australia, there's been some outcry at the almost $3 million that us taxpayers will fork out to bring her over here. Are we being ripped off?

The answer is simple: No. No, we are not. It's Oprah Winfrey.

Look at it this way: the 'Where the Bloody Hell Are You?' tourism campaign cost a whopping $180 million — and all we really got out of that spectacular bomb was Lara Bingle. Lucky us.

Now, for a mere $3 million — which, while it looks like big bucks, isn't much in the grand scheme of things — we get one of the most famous, powerful and influential women in the world. When Oprah's here in December, the world's attention will be on Australia. What a bargain!

well, that might be stretching a bit in my view. I think it's safe to say "the attention of millions and millions of her fans will be on Australia when she's here making new shows." She's got a very clearly identified target audience, so you either like her or totally ignore her.

I have been watching her show on and off ever shince I have been here. I loved her show at first, however I found her shows tend to be more commercial now than Dr, Phil show. Has anybody read her biogrhphy?

真是孤陋寡闻，居然都不知道是谁，看老虎版的说法貌似是美国女版“吴宗宪”？？

sorr just noticed it's an Eng-only topic. Googled out a few footages, i guess I'm that type Bulaohu mentioned which totally ignores her lol, i like WZX though...could be a language and culture barrier or that I'm not as passionate or spiritual a person as she is to echo with her ideas and thoughts...but for harbour to close a day for her presence, i think its a bit 耍大牌 lol...

but I'd ever read from somewhere that she's the richest woman among celebries, which surprised me.
