”The Glasgow Track makes it’s way up Mt Dandenong, located 45 minutes east of Melbourne. The short, but not so sweet track takes you all the way to the summit reserve which offers spectacular views of Melbourne’s east and (weather permitting) even the city.
The track can be accessed via Glasgow Road, Montrose. To get to the track simply follow this road till reaches a gate and turns into a dirt walking track. At this point there is also a small parking area. From the carpark the track starts off relatively easily, but soon becomes quite steep and uneven. The track more or less follows a water course up the side of the mountain so it for the most park resembles a creek bed. During or after wet weather this track would most likely be very slippery and unsafe. The track crosses a few others along the way but more or less heads straight up the mountain.
Once at the top of the track there are a few options for connecting to other tracks on the mountain. The view at this point is patchy through the trees but if you’re after a unobstructed view then head south a little to Burke’s Lookout or follow the Kyeema Track round to the Mt Dandenong Observatory, where there is also a cafe and other facilities.
This track is very steep (350m climb over 1km) and strenuous but provides a great workout and has many great views along the way. Just be careful for loose rocks and unstable ground when you walk down.“
