trust me, "road toll" here means road casualties, not the toll you pay at toll gate.

It's an objective observation based on the trend of the subject matter itself, not if you expect it to change or stop changing, so our wishes that road toll should stop growing doesn't matter here; what matters is that it will grow, as we're just into the holiday season and past record indicates that more WILL come.

dorin你要考NAATI吗？如果不是的话，我觉得理解就够了，不必一定要用中文表述出来。语言是一种融会贯通，我觉得应该用英文去理解英文，而不是用翻译。

我在通过NAATI中译英考试后，非常得意，不是人人都说中译英难英译中容易吗？于是立马又报名考英译中，结果挂掉

可见不是英文懂了就一定能翻译出语法精准又不拗口的中文的

不过我觉得必要的中文翻译能力还是需要的，虽然不求翻译的那么精准，起码要翻的听起来像地道的顺口的中文啊， 有时候有些国内朋友问我某个东西什么意思，我就含糊的回去了几句，结果人家问我，你到底懂不懂啊

一个很小的细节，你可以考虑煮一下，直接照着英文的顺序想成中文就好。那样效率高出很多。
以后看什么就是什么，不要翻译成中文，向这个方向努力，让英文变成你的第一反应

泰军开始强制遣返什么什么到共产laos,尽管国际抗议担心他们会面临什么什么。

the line honours 是first-past-the-post trophy的同义词，
first-past-the-post:愿意是投票最高获胜，这里是比喻拿到trophy的条件不仅仅看通过时间还要综合其他的因素后，比如船的设计和完成的速度，+ + - -才能折算出最终完成时间。

所以在这个context里面，就是说因为风轻微，外界因素对船目前的完成终点时间影响不大，而且也不会影响到之前已经算好的时间。

在这样的理解上， keep the line honours record intact就是说保持当前积分状态不变。

关于船有很多单词不常用，starboard, port board, fore, aft,桅杆叫mast,每根不同的mast都有自己的名字,记不清楚了
