印度队表示他们还没有输掉这次系列赛虽然他们被同胞寄予厚望在澳洲击败澳洲队。
Demoralised India head to Perth insisting they can salvage something from a series that is fast imploding like so many before it.
The Indians' long wait to win a series in Australia will have to wait at least another four years after the home side took a 2-0 lead following an emphatic innings and 68-run demolition in Sydney.
It's left the visitors needing to win back-to-back Tests in Perth and Adelaide to draw a series they had high hopes of winning just a fortnight ago.
"We have lost the chance of winning the series but still with two more Test matches to go we can level," skipper MS Dhoni said.
"I'll definitely be speaking to the team (about fighting back)."
"That's what we are looking to do."
"People talked a lot about winning the series over here but right from the very first press conference I've said it's not about how good we look on paper."
"It's about what you do on the field. Hopefully we'll come back with a winning streak."
India were comprehensibly outplayed in all facets of the game during a one-sided second Test.
They made just 191 after winning the toss and batting first and then conceded 659 runs while picking up just four Australian wickets.
There was some resistance shown in the second innings but it was too little, too late.
"We need a good performance in all three departments - fielding, batting and bowling," Dhoni said.
"It is a bit of worry. Our plans need to be executed better."
"It's something we need to address as quickly as possible."
After a comfortable start to his captaincy, Dhoni has now overseen six straight losses away from home.
England beat India 4-0 in the last northern summer and Australia are on track to repeat the dose.
"In sport you are not only destined to win. You'll lose at times and you'll face difficult times and that's what improves you as an individual and as skipper," Dhoni said.
"If everything comes easy to you then you don't really appreciate the hard work that goes into it."
"This is a phase where I think the team will get more and more strong."
"We'll know what needs to be done to keep the winning phase going."
India are unlikely to conduct major surgery on their side ahead of the Perth Test, starting January 13, but may replace out-of-form No.6 Virat Kohli with Rohit Sharma. |
