As far as I know, there are a few of my friends’s kids who are continue coaching in year 7, but most of kids don’t coach any more after selective test and just enjoy new high school life. Plus there are more homework and sujects in high school than primary school.

I agree that it is better if kids can figure out themself. I bought a math text book for my daughter and she can self-study if she have time.

Yes, a teacher advised us that for a SS, my daughter should just stay average, focus on making friends during junior years because the top is not much fun. Then just reactivate her abilities and climb back up if she wants from yr 10 onwards so she doesn't burn out too early. It sounds like a plan to me, my daughter has already told me regardless where she goes, she's going to try as many clubs/extra curriculars she can manage to squeeze into her timetable at school. She's tearing down the ivory tower and rebuilding with rainbow bricks! Like the 2020 NBA Warriors

请教一下前辈，如果到了orientation day 还没有收到reserved的学校通知，是不是就必须去报道了？另外学校的费用需要支付么？

今年截至应该是12月16日，有不少人是去了迎新日之后再拒的。
选择确实不易...大家互相体谅就好了。当然最好的状态就是收到offer的家庭尽快做决定，这样候补可以少焦急几天。

这周JRA的校长给还未决定的家长们打电话了，所以看到JRA又有两个名额出来，想必陆续还会有。
这位校长还是很负责任的，她当时和我们说去年迎新日后还有十几位放弃的，代表着有十几位学生错失了参加迎新日的机会。所以今年她更早就采取了行动。提供各种条件帮助家长尽早做决定。

真是不错。

这是我了解到的消息，结合最近两天多出的2个名额推断的哦。

在我的小圈子里，我至少数得出五个这样的家庭，在私校（Shore啊，ABB啊，PLC啊，Meriden啊，Knox啊）奖学金和JR之间摇摆呢么。不知道他们现在决定了没有呢？

It is really hard to decide, lastnight I was speaking with a parent who's son whilst taking medication for ADHD is aiming for med through IB. He tells me that the school advised that the only way he can get into med is through IB and not HSC due to the way he tests. It reminded me how one of my plans were to try out a gov HS, then complete IB at a private school or Westbourne @ UTS. Obviously, I am still completely undecided on what will happen in 4 years time, I think I will just keep things fluid and open to what my child wants in future. Many parents who are stalling are having to factor in distance, cohort, prestige, facilities, scholarship, and so much more and potentially HSC vs IB all before yr 7, it can't be easy. Props to those who are taking their time to carefully consider these options seriously, all children deserve parents who are not blasé about HS.

如果是自费的私校，和精英中学之间，怎么选择呢？可能很多家长都会考虑和犹豫吧？私校方方面面可以给予很多，精英中学性价比好，但是种族单一、基本上也就是学习为主了吧？

这个问题也困扰了好多家长，不知道楼主对此有何看法？

具体情况具体分析，要看家庭经济情况，看孩子能力和特点，看是具体哪所几所学校可以选择，看交通等等。
好像没有一个完美的答案，不过就我们家庭而言，我可能更偏向私校一点。

我们选择了自费私校，主要是交通问题。当然我们精英的offer不是TOP 10的热门精英。如果是TOP10热门精英，我们估计会选精英中学。

目前选择的这个学校，孩子很喜欢。我们也很满意。我家里先生是精英派，我倾向于私校。我有点小庆幸孩子没考上TOP 10的精英。在孩子中学前我换了份全职的工作，收入也增加了点，所以孩子爸爸也没什么好说的。
