儿童必读英文书籍大推荐（本帖的书都有阅读年龄标记）- 幼龄和小学部分

如果比较下The Hunger Games和The Maze Runner，相同之处是大家都被困在一个空间里为了生存而努力，The Hunger Games的生存是要杀光其他所有人，而The Maze Runner里的生存是要所有人相互合作。

很有意思的小说。
这两套书都推荐给Year 6以上的小学生和中学生阅读。

2009年的第一部大卖，去年James Dashner就接着写第二部【The Scorch Trials】，还是很热销，据说和Hunter Games一样，好莱坞正准备拍电影，事实上这样的小说都是电影大片的好题材。

今年十月份，第三部【The Death Cure】也出版了，我刚刚在Amazon上买了一本。

因为这三部曲实在是太赚钱了，作者已经宣布明年将出版这个系列的前传【The Kill Order】再捞一票。

网上说这位作者James Dashner和Twilight系列的大牛Stephenie Meyer都是同时期从犹他州的Brigham Young University毕业的。

同样，这些续集推荐给 Age 13+

I would recommend the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy. The Skulduggery Pleasant series is a fiction novel about a girl named Stephanie Edgely. The series starts when Stephanie’s uncle dies. Following her uncles death, Stephanie is thrown into the world of sorcerers and mages. There, she takes up a new name: Valkyrie Cain. 今天介绍一本现代的作品，叫做【Carrie's War】，是英国的小说家和儿童文学作家Nina Bawden的作品，在英国相当有名，是英国初中生们的必读作品之一。



故事讲述了一位14岁的女孩Carrie和他弟弟Nick在二次大战中的故事。在当时的英国，有大批的儿童被英国政府从城市疏散到乡村，Carrie和Nick姐弟俩就是其中之一。
他们和冷酷又不友善的Evans先生呆在一起，还有Evans先生的妹妹Auntie Lou，Auntie Lou对他们很好但是身体很差。孩子在当地还和其他被疏散的一个名叫Albert Sandwich的孩子交了朋友，Albert待在Evans先生的另外一个妹妹Gotobed夫人的家里，但是Gotobed夫人身体虚弱快死了。孩子Gotobed夫人的亲戚Jonny Gotobed成为了朋友，Jonny Gotobed先生患有脑瘫。Jonny Gotobed的管家告诉孩子们一个可怕的传说，Johnny Gotobed家里的图书馆里有一个头骨，就是这个头骨会对Gotobed家族下诅咒。根据传说，谁把这个头骨移出房间的话，谁就被被诅咒。

Should this skull be broke or took,
These hollow eyes will on you look.
For here the skull must always lie,
Or house and soul will certain die!

后来Carrie在她离开乡村之前做了一件她自己认为的可怕的事情，因为就是因为这件事后续发生的很多事她都自责自己要为此负责，直到三十年后，Carrie带着她的两个孩子回到了小时候她带过的地方，她才知道她的朋友Johnny先生和他管家的命运。从那个时候开始她才真正理解了她当时作为一个被政府疏散的寄居者的经历。。。

【Carrie's War】成书于1973年，出版之后就一直在再版，并被BBC拍成过电视剧和电影，并在1993年获得了英国的Phoenix Award。

作者Nina Bawden出生于1925年，在英国相当有名，现在还在世。
但是她的晚年遭到过一场不幸，这里作为轶事来说说。

她和她老公遇上了一场火车事故 - Potters Bar rail crash，发生在2002年5月10日，一列途经英国伦敦郊区城镇Potters Bar的列车在进站之前，因为转辙器故障松脱而出轨翻覆，造成车上六名乘客与一名路人死亡。由于该事件的受害者名单包括了数位知名人士，再加上又是邻近地区在短时间之内的第二起死亡意外（2000年10月17日，同样在Hertfordshire境内的Hatfield才发生过4人死亡的列车出轨意外，因此备受注目。

在事故发生当时，列车上大约有150名乘客，包括第四车厢内的30名乘客，整起事故造成6名乘客与1名路人死亡，16人重伤，60人轻伤。Nina Bawden与她的老公、前BBC世界台总监Austen Kark当时也在车上；Nina本人在事故中受重伤，而她老公则当场丧命。

除此之外，不知道大家是否记得，当时任职于香港凤凰卫视的台湾籍新闻女主播刘海若与她的两名好友，TVBS新闻记者巫佳静与前中视新闻记者林家欣，也同样都在出事的车厢中。当时刘海若与巫佳静是为要与刚自City University, London拿到硕士学位的林家欣相聚，因此相约休假前往英国并一同出游，却不幸碰上意外。林家欣在事故当场身亡，而巫佳静则在送医之后不治，刘海若则因严重的脑部创伤紧急送医，并曾一度被医生宣告脑死。

这个事件如果当时你在国内有看凤凰卫视的话，肯定会记得，长篇累牍天天报道。

休假之前，更新两本。

先介绍下作者Joseph Rudyard Kipling，他是英国的诗人兼作家，一牛人。
1907年，他42岁，得到诺贝尔文学奖，是英国第一位获得该奖项的作家，至今仍是该奖项最年轻得奖者保持人。



他在儿童文学上最经典的有两本书，我认为是小学生的必读作品。

【Just So Stories】可说是Rudyard Kipling的代表作品。

度假回来，继续这个帖子。

今天介绍的书的名字叫做【Johnny Tremain】，这部书在美国很有名，美国青少年的必读作品之一，成书于1943年，1944年得到了John Newbery Medal，这个奖是美国乃至全世界儿童文学的标杆，得金奖的一般都会是儿童的必读作品，这部文学作品是描写美国独立战争背景故事的代表作之一

故事开始在1773年还是英国殖民地的美洲大陆波士顿，故事主角小男孩Johnny Tremain 原本是一位铸银匠师的学徒，但是一次意外之后，他的手严重受伤，也粉碎了他一心想成为一位银匠的美梦。在失去工作的同时他又被人陷害入狱。。。但是他得到当时造反人士Paul Revere和Josiah Quincy等人的帮助，终于在法庭上获得平反。经此事件之后，Johnny Tremain 结识了这群争取殖民地自由平等独立的人士，后来更参与他们的造反活动，包括带头参与史上着名的波士顿港口倾倒茶叶事件（Boston Tea Party），这也正是美国独立战争的导火线。乃至于后来英国皇家军队大举渡海而来，与民兵在港口展开第一次冲突，独立战争正式爆发。。。

所以，这部书其实是一部历史书，作者想要告诉读者的是独立战争的历史。只籍着小男孩的成长史来说明历史。。。是很典型的想让小朋友把枯燥的历史书当作小说书来看的叙事手法。

我推荐这部书给Year6+的小朋友阅读，就当故事书看看，知道下美国的独立战争大概是这么样爆发的就可以了。

Johnny Tremain is histoy, woven into a non-fictional storybook. It's really creative and a great read. The author has taken history, chosen a character (that i think is made up), and made this book into something else. Although it contains history, it is just the outline of history. The characters and maybe a few small events were just the author's imagination in the time.

This novel is set in Britain in the 1700's when the Boston Tea Party occured along with the battle of Lexington. Johnny Tremain is the main character, having lost his thumb as a young boy, with no parents whatsoever, he is independent and kind. He used to work for a sliversmith, so is confident when it comes to steel. Rab, young male who takes him in like a little brother is involved in the BOston Tea Party and the battle of Lexington. THe story mainly is just history, but the author has added other small characters like soilders and doctors or friends into the story.

I recommend this book for about 11 ages and above, because younger children may not be interested in this particular type of history. ALso because the wording of the book can be difficult and they may not understand. Adults can also take a look at the book if they're interested but i would imagine they would've already known about this history. I rate it 8/10, for it's creativity and imaginative wording.

The Death Cure

This book belongs in a trilogy, with action-packed adventure and something to leave upi hanging after every chapter. It really deserves recognition and everybody's attention as well. I think the author had some really creative ideas to use in this book, with extremely detailed wording. His sentences are short sometimes, making it all seem fast and exciting to read.

The last book in the Maze Runner trilogy I have to admit, isn't good as the first and second. Even though, it being the last book should be the most exciting, but I don't really think so. THe Death Cure's main character is still Thomas the old Glader, Minho, Tereasa, Brenda and Jorge. Thomas has been narrowed down to the Final Candidate, whilst he and his friends escape from WICKED's lab. (That's how the book starts) THey go to Denver and meet someone unexpected whilst Newt goes slowly crazy.

I recommend this book for ages 12 and above, because it does have scenes of blood and gore that may not be suitable for younger children. It's not considered violent, but some wording may seem too harsh. Also the build up of the story is a bit complicated, and you might need to remember things. I rate this book 10/10, as i rate all of the other books from the Maze RUnner trilogy. So i would really recommend this book to you if you have a particular interest.

再来一本当时中国的禁书（现在应该没问题了）。。。

这本书不是儿童小说，是成人题材（稍微有一些儿童不宜的性爱描写），但是小说里说的东西，容易看出来的比较粗浅的东西 - 书本（知识）可以改变人的命运，是很清晰的，让初中生看看无妨（我个人看法）。其他更深层次的内涵，我认为对一个这样长大的学生来说就无所谓，能够有兴趣去了解最好，没有兴趣就当小说书看看，因为这个故事还是非常清新优美动人。

这本书叫做【Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress】（巴尔扎克与小裁缝）
故事说得是七十年代的中国，知青罗明和马剑铃上山下乡来到四川的一个小山村，接受贫下中农再教育，可是乡下贫乏的生活使他们逐渐感到厌倦，他们生活中惟一的乐趣便是偷看箱子里的一本禁书-巴尔扎克的小说。一天，他们与村子里的小裁缝相遇，活泼开朗的小裁缝给他们死水般的生活带来了光亮，而他们的禁书也令小裁缝幻想中的世界豁然开朗，慢慢地两人同时爱上了小裁缝。。。

这部书的作者是旅法华人戴思杰，戴思杰1954年出生于中国福建。1971年至1974年间被送往四川再接受再教育。其后毛泽东逝世，他到四川中文大学修读文学历史，1984年他获取奖学金往法国进修，入读法国电影学院，本书是他的的自传式小说。该小说非常畅销，是法国2000年最畅销小说，当时在法国卖出二十五万本，并赢得多个奖项。该小说已有25种语言译本，但是很搞笑的是没有中文。因为这本书当时在中国被禁。

这里的中学生要读的话，可以买英译本，书不厚，才不到200页，随便看看就读完了。
推荐给Year 7 - Year 10的华人学生看看。

2002年戴思杰自己导演的同名电影非常棒，我很喜欢，周迅，陈坤，刘烨主演，整个电影都是四川方言（重庆话？？？），呵呵，很有趣。

今天是英国著名作家Charles Dickens诞辰200周年，这里纪念下。
因为这是我个人比较喜欢的一个作家。

他的书其实都是通俗小说，在他的那个年代都是很俗的东西，大白话说他写的大部分小说其实都可以在“故事会”上发表。。。因为后来有了大师的地位，后世给他按上了一个好听的名字叫做“写实主义”。。。
不拘形式，不限于文体，无所谓阳春白雪。。。“写就好，管他什么”才是他的作品里最出色的地方。

他的作品适合儿童看到有（推荐）：
