Named after the railway siding - a noted landmark which played a defining role to the fledging settlement of Coonawarra's wine region. Completed in 1898,"The Siding" was the hub for transporting around 600 hogsheads of wine a year back in the late 1800s. An exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, abundant with a vibrant spectrum of distinct varietal and regional characteristics of red cherry, mint and dark berry. Approachable on release, while still delivering the lauded varietal and regional characteristics synonymous with a classic Coonawarra Cabernet.

I just did a check. You can buy this for significantly less than $20. That’s good buying in anyone’s language. It has a loveliness, this cabernet. A soft heart. It’s grunty and tannic through the finish but the mid palate is sweet and ripe and perfectly pitched. Blackcurrant, tobacco, black olive, mint. It is a wine of quiet insistence and yet it’s not under-powered. Rated : 93+ Points Alcohol : 13.5% Price : $24 Closure : Screwcap Drink : 2017 - 2024+ Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
