Position:  Senior Manager / Manager, Process Engineering – Solid Process Engineering
Location: Pudong, Shanghai
Reporting to: Senior Regional Manager, Process Engineering Asia Pacific
People Management Responsibility: Yes
Travel Required:  Yes

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
1.        Build up regional Solid Process Engineering competence with focus on solids handling and solids formulation (drying, agglomeration) and lead the newly formed team of researchers and lab staff
2.        Build up internal customer base and propose new process innovation projects
3.        Carry out challenging projects in R&D, key equipment design and process optimization
4.        Lead technology exchange with peers in the headquarters.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.        Recruiting and training of highly qualified staff
2.        Leadership of research team including performance management, resource management, quality management according to global BASF standards, EHS management, know-how management and professional coaching
3.        Build up internal customer relations, define working procedures, propose new process innovation projects, responsibility for project acquisition for the team
4.        Self-dependent execution of complex projects implying interaction with diverse stakeholders/customers
5.        Actively drive forward possibilities of optimization in projects as well as in own work environment
6.        Build up external network with relevant universities and research institutes; regional responsibility for technology scouting in the field of Solids Process Engineering
7.        Ensure management and exchange of know-how and push actively the development of Solids Process Engineering in BASF: Propose R&D projects to drive the implementation of new methods and technologies.

RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:
1.        Ph.D. in Process or Chemical Engineering/Technology or related with above average scores.
2.        At least 5 years working experience. International exposure is a must.
3.        In-depth expertise in solids processing: characterization of bulk solids, design of bunkers, pneumatic transportation, mixing of bulk powders, drying and agglomeration/pelletization
4.        Excellent communication skills, fluent in English
5.        Good leadership capability, drive and willingness to take responsibility
6.        Demonstrate a high level of creativity and personal initiative, work well in global teams.
