以下的会在第一case用到。
The online retail industry can uses the Potter’s Five Forces Analysis (example 2.4 pg2.39):
1. Treat of new entrants is high – there is little expertise required to enter the online industry, low cost of entry and easy access to products.
2. Supplier power varies – suppliers if they have a product or design in high demand, have a number of avenues to pursue, potentially driving the price up. However, the market is quite large, so entrants to the industry have a wide range of suppliers to work with
3. Buyer power is high – as buyers have alternative channels for the product, are easily able to compare price due to availability of information on the internet, and can, with similar ease, locate the product elsewhere.
4. Substitute power is high – as there are no geographic barriers on the internet, allowing international as well as local outlets to offer their product to the buyer. A product that is designed and made locally can be offered for a cheaper price internationally, yet delivered to the local region. Additionally, traditional brick-and-mortar stores are an alternative to online retailers.
5. Industry rivalry is high – due to the demand of products, and the many competitors in the online retail industry that do not operate from physical stores. Price competitiveness driver’s rivalry, and, due to the ease of comparing prices online, price competitiveness is high and therefore industry rivalry is also high. |
