Is this politics?

I cannot type Chinese but I feel stupid about the management in my workspace.
We just have a new CIO and all the senior management seems to be afraid of him.

I am supporting an application and I get a ticket today saying "It took 30 minutes to receive an email..blablabla"
When I asked the person to provide the email address I get reply like
"The issue was reported by our CIO XXXXX and unfortunately we don't have the details of the event taking place. We have come up with a trouble-shooting plan can you provide a detail report for the last xxx months ......"

It won't take less than a minute for the CIO to provide the email just those managers did not want to ask for it.
Should I do that on behalf of them?
I don't care what the CIO thinks but you know, if my directly boss don't want to ask and I do, I will have a hard time....

These kind of things happen many times now.
And I just feel ridiculous.

can't you check all emails of the CIO yourself, instead of asking him to provide the emails?

escalate this issue to your manager unless you are the one in charge.

I was not asking to provide the emails (CIO never sent out any email to me), but the email address which had the issue of not receiving emails on time. Obviously I had checked the CIO's but that's not the case.

it is just like when you call the call center to query about your bank account but get no account number or even your name.
