I've been a bookkeeper for a law firm for almost 2 yrs now...from wut i understand from applying thru ten's of thousands of job, going thru interviews, and amongst others, I can say...Bookkeeping involves AR and AP but to what extent is quuestionable. Full function AP AR means u actually have access to the company's bank account to disburse money for payments..and u need to chase up the debtors for money and deposit into the bank accounts and after doing the said tasks ..of course record them on sys accordingly..... this is full functions AP / AR.... i did full function AP most of the time..but AR ..my mgr did ...cos the clients are harder to manage....since they are usually quite broke and in trouble when they go and look for a small law firm to solve their probs...
Bookkeeping definitely includes Bank Reconciliation. Might also include balance sheet reconciliation. Very likely u will be in charge of reporting to ATO too...Occasionally..might be given chance to help financial analysis....and cashflow forecasting....for ur own co or ur clients..so basically
Bookkeeping almost = Accounting .
Bookkeeper and Accounts clerk are considered the same level. But all bookkeepers in Law Firms are called accounts clerk...despite the name of the title...diff ppl is given different level or exposure to accounting.
But at the end of the day....better title better perception |
