One of the most annoying thing living in Australia is to pick up the right Internet ISP to meet your need.
There are so many ISPs in Australia, and people always confused before they actually tried all of them, especially for the new arrives. Even people who already living in Australia for years but not good at doing homework may still hard to decide which ISP is the best suit for you.
So this comes to the post I’m writing today.
The Internet infrastructure in Australia has below owners
Belongs is a sub-company powered by Telstra
IINet and Internode are the same company with different business, and they both using the same Telstra network, so technically should be same speed
Before you make any decision, please consider below questions first:
- Do you play online games? if yes, consider speed more than bandwidth
- Do you watch stream video? you may need to balance between the speed and bandwidth
- Do you visit overseas websites more than local? Telstra infrastructure is your choice
- Do you download a lot? bandwidth no doubt

*Service in above diagram means fast network recovery since end of the day when a third party ISP request to fix the infrastructure part, they will still goes back to the basic infrastructure owner, like Telstra
*This diagram is only a recommendation and based on my own understanding, I don’t work for any of the ISP company and I do NOT response to anything
Now you should be more clear on the selection of Internet ISPs, once your home network is connected, you may interested in building your own home WIFI network, or even further to setup your own lab
Enjoying
