钢琴小提琴长笛都有，大部分都是在四五年级就达到这个水平了，可能也是大部分人在准备oc精英停掉了，但是现在七年级开始有音乐课了，基本很容易又拾起来。相比较其他学校，已经很不错了。并不是传说中的只会死读书，德智体美劳兼有。

我举的例子也不够多才多艺。会跳舞的未必有99.95也没有钢琴演奏级或体育国家级。人人都有短板

至于大多数，我觉得就是比较聪明的正常孩子，但也不算书呆子

和上海中学、复旦附中、交大附中、华师大二附中没啥区别，家长们对这几个学校趋之若鹜。那些学校如果很多书呆子，就不会那么高分了。

体育文艺需要从小练，到了中学年龄开始练就晚了。

My kid is weak on Music and Sports but he is a Music lover.
In Year 11, he was an AFL forum moderator and could deal with forum entries coming from young to old.
Even in Year 12, excessive time was spent on these "harmful to study" interests.

取消补习第一还是前三名啊。你回忆一下，你靠补习能上清华北大吗？

Some years ago, my kid studied in a combined class Yr 5/6 in Yr 5 and in Yr 6 of a non-OC school.

In Yr 5, half class took Selective School exam, one classmate got state rank 3 and had JR offer.
One classmate got state rank 6 and had no JR offer because JR was not a preference selected due to under-estimation of kid's ability. A younger sibling had JR offer in later year.

In Yr 6, half class took Selective School exam, 2 got JR offers and studied in JR.
Right after Selective School exam, my kid took a few months leave.
The other student with JR offer followed suit.

With disruption of schooling, both JR students were not the school top students.
Also, missing school for a few months had no material bad effects on progression to high school.

In such a small Yr 5 class, 3 students had JR offers and 2 students is studying medicine in UNSW.

Most people mention getting good exam result need hard work, talent, luck, etc.
Some unexpected answers -

The parent of the second student with JR offer provided a bonus of $150 when his
Selective school score exceeded my kid's score.
Look like, this is a practical incentive to get good score.

When an ATAR 99.95 student failed to get rank 1 in a Chinese five subject, his parent
explained that he mistreated scoring assignment as non-scoring one.

UCAT exam have 5 sections.
One section SJT did not contribute to overall score and ANZ medical schools did not consider it for admission.
So, no one took SJT seriously and spent time on preparation.
My kid spent minor effort on UCAT and had good UCAT overall score and very good UCAT SJT score.
His answer to my how and why getting these are aptitude and common sense.

This is why he does not tutor on UCAT.

He had a good teacher in Yr 5.
She said she was not good in Math and asked for parent help.
As no parent responded, classmates liked to get help from my kid on Maths.
Some of them went to jr, bh, nsb, nsg.

In Yr 11, he was school Maths mentor for same or lower year school mates.
I heard that Maths mentor usually came from top Maths class.
